Arrival and Dismissal

ARRIVAL Procedures 
School begins at 9:00 AM; Students are allowed into the building starting at 8:45am unless they are in the Tree House Program. 

All students have access to Breakfast upon entry at 8:45am

PARENT DROP-OFF in the Morning (TK, K-5)

There is a separate drive-way to drop-off and pick-up your child (TK, K-5). You will see the sign marking it the first day of school.

·         Please pull down the driveway to the end of the driveway.

·         Please stay in line and do not pass cars – there might be parked cars along the driveway in designated spots.

·         Please wait for a staff member to be out front at 8:45am before you drop your child.

·         Once you see a staff member, you can let your child out of the car. You do not have to wait one at a time as long as they are along the sidewalk.

·         Parents do not come out of the car.

WALKING TO SCHOOL

·         Students walking to school will come down the steps on Brandegee Avenue. There will be a staff member on the steps to help them cross the crosswalk where the parents will be driving to drop-off their child.

PRESCHOOL and PRE-KINDERGARTEN ARRIVAL

Arrival - Parent Drop-off

·         Use the SECOND drive way to enter Thames River Magnet School

·         Drive to the back of the school.

·         You can park and walk your child up to the staff members outside or you can drive around the loop and drop your child where a staff member will be at the Preschool/PreK entrance.

·         Drop-off in the morning starts at 9:00am for Morning Session; 12:48 for Afternoon Session.  (Please watch out for students midday crossing at the crosswalk heading to or from the field for recess!)

·         Students riding a bus will be arriving at the same Preschool entrance.

DISMISSAL Procedures
start at 3:15PM

Bus students will be escorted directly to the buses as the buses arrive.

PARENT PICKUP in the Afternoon (TK, K-5)

·         Please pull down the driveway to the end of the driveway.

·         Please stay in line and do not pass cars – there might be parked cars along the driveway in designated spots

·         Please do not get out of the car.

·         Have your Photo ID ready to show the staff member

·         Tell the staff member your child’s grade level, first and last name.

·         If you are having a different person pickup your child other than those on the emergency contact list, you need to contact the school before 2pm that day.

WALKING HOME FROM SCHOOL

·         Students walking home from school will walk to the top of the steps to Brandegee Avenue.

·         Parent/caregiver will meet in the grassy area outside the Main Entrance to greet students in grades K, 1, 2 unless their child is walking home with an older sibling with which a parent/caregiver has given written permission.

PRESCHOOL and PRE-KINDERGARTEN DISMISSAL

Dismissal Parent Pick-up - AM Classes

·         Use the LEFT driveway to enter Thames River Magnet School (the TK-5 Parent Drop-off / Pick-Up Area at the front of the building).

·         Park in any of the spots along the front driveway.  Come up and wait outside the Main Entrance.

·         Pick-up for dismissal begins at 11:48 am for Morning Session.  (Dismissal on Early Dismissal days will be 11:08 am).  

Students riding buses will be escorted out to their buses.

Dismissal Parent Pick-up - PM Classes

·         Use the RIGHT driveway to enter Thames River Magnet School

·         Drive to the back of the school.

·         Wait in the area near the back entrance (where you dropped off earlier).

·         Pick-up at dismissal begins at 3:15 for Afternoon Sessions.  

Students riding buses will be dismissing at the same area.  Please respect the Stop sign and flashing lights!
